We are continually accepting applications for our summer season. Our season runs from mid-May through mid-September. We recruit an enthusiastic team of employees, and we offer a bonus incentive to those who complete the season.
We will begin our interview process for the upcoming season in January. We plan to conduct interviews with qualified applicants on selected days in January, February, and March.

RIVERBOAT DISCOVERY

| Guide |
Guides greet passengers and serve as ambassadors for Alaskan Native culture; conduct the tour of the Chena Indian Village; serve coffee and doughnuts and assist deckhands in the snack bar during busy times; act as salespeople by ringing up sales and opening and closing registers at the end of trips. Other duties include assisting passengers with questions. 40 hours per week plus some overtime required.
Qualifications: Ability to speak well before large groups of people; outgoing and cheerful disposition;
High School diploma if over age 18; first-hand knowledge of and experience
in an Alaskan Native culture; communicate well with others; and prior
experience with or ability to learn to operate a cash register.

| Deckhand |
Deckhands cast off at departure and secure the Riverboat Discovery on landing; staff the snack bar when passengers are onboard; assist passengers; maintain the safety of the vessel; handle lines and gangplanks during departures and landings; serve coffee and doughnuts to passengers; and staff the snack bars, including balancing the till after each trip. Deckhands must practice and perform emergency procedures, including man overboard, anchoring, abandon ship and fire drills, operating emergency equipment, and CPR. Some deckhands are assigned to the Chena Indian Village to perform duties such as maintaining the fishwheel, operating small engines, maintaining facilities for dogs and reindeer, and grounds maintenance. 40 hours per week plus some overtime required.
Qualifications: Ability to represent the Riverboat Discovery in a courteous, professional manner to passengers at all times; pass a drug test, as required by the U.S. Coast Guard; applicants over age 21 preferred (Alaska law requires individuals to be 21 to serve alcohol).

Reservations Clerk
|
Reservations Clerks answer phones; respond to inquiries about the Riverboat Discovery and El Dorado Gold Mine tours; take reservations and enter them into the reservations system; confirm group tours and file reservations. Clerks sell and/or collect tickets and perform other duties as directed by the Manager of Reservations. 40 hours per week plus some overtime required.
Qualifications: Ability to communicate well in person and over the phone; operate office machines
accurately and efficiently (computer, word processor, calculator, phone
system and communication with boats by radio); and represent the Riverboat
Discovery in a courteous, professional manner.

| Retail Associate |
Retail Associates serve as customer representatives for visitors to the Riverboat Discovery; prepare and stock merchandise for sale; perform inventory control duties; organize and distribute merchandise; and perform other duties related to the operation of a retail store. Four 10-hour days per week, with overtime required.
Qualifications: Ability to represent the Riverboat Discovery in a courteous, professional manner in order to provide customer service and sell merchandise. Ability to complete tasks efficiently and accurately. Excellent customer service skills, with strong computer and mathematical skills preferred. Ability to communicate and work well with others; possess confidence to perform tasks independently with attention to detail.

| Accounting Clerk |
Accounting Clerks enter accounts receivable into accounting program; prepare invoices and journal entries; prepare Daily Receipts Ledgers; post credit card payments to Accounts Receivable; assist with timekeeping; and perform cash counting and reservations support duties.
Qualifications: Ability to perform routine and complex accounting duties with a high degree of accuracy; and work well independently and as a team. Junior standing or greater in a university in the field of accounting. Prior accounting experience preferred.

| Cleanup Crew (full-time and part-time) |
Cleanup Crew members clean the Riverboat Discovery and premises twice a day—after the boat returns to the dock at 12:30 pm, and again at 5:30 pm (with a typical shift of 12:30 to 9:30 pm). Duties include dusting, vacuuming, emptying trash, washing windows, cleaning restrooms, and miscellaneous warehouse/grounds maintenance duties. Part-time Cleanup Crew members clean the boat and premises in the evening (approximately 5:30 to 9:30 pm).
Qualifications: Attention to detail, punctuality, reliability, and ability to work independently or as a team.

| ~Wages range between $10.50 and $12.50 per hour, depending on the position, and include a $1.00 per hour bonus paid at the end of the season.
